Columbus Catholic soccer beats McDonell/Regis, clinches share of conference title

Dons improve to 16-1 overall

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Columbus Catholic scored twice in the first 11½ minutes and went on to shut out Chippewa Falls McDonell/Eau Claire Regis 4-0 in a Mid-State Soccer Conference game Thursday at Griese Park.

The win clinches a tie for the conference title for Columbus Catholic, which is now 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the MSSC with two games remaining: Friday at home against Wisconsin Valley Lutheran and next Thursday at Tri-County.

Nick Malovrh scored 4:36 into the game, and Nadim Torbey added another goal for the Dons seven minutes later to give them a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Torbey added another score 8:08 into the second half, and Ryan Dieringer netted Columbus’ final goal with 1:20 remaining in the game.
