Marshfield Middle School students get a taste of heavy metal

MARSHFIELD — A total of 298 eighth-grade students from Marshfield Middle School took a ride on the Heavy Metal Bus Tour on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The tour included stops at regional manufacturers to explore potential career pathways. Students learned about engineering and design, welding and fabrication, robotics, and numerous other career and educational opportunities.
The tour made stops at A&B Process Systems, Colby Metal Inc., DeBoer Transportation, Felker Brothers Corporation, H&S Manufacturing Company Inc., Innovative Machine Specialists, Marshfield Utilities, Paget Equipment Co., Ram Rod Industries, Roehl Transport Inc., V&H Inc., and Mid-State Technical College.
The bus trip was part of Mid-State Technical College’s fifth annual North Central Wisconsin Heavy Metal Bus Tour in which thousands of eighth-grade students from across central and northern Wisconsin tour manufacturing facilities. Separate tours were hosted at Marshfield, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids.
