Marshfield doubles team eliminated at WIAA Division 1 girls tennis sectional

Tigers’ Gadke-Schultz lose first No. 1 doubles match

STEVENS POINT — Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of freshman Hanah Gadke and senior Ashley Schultz lost its first match at the WIAA Division 1 girls tennis sectional and was eliminated from postseason play on Tuesday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

Gadke and Schultz finish the season with a 6-7 record. They were the only representatives for Marshfield at the sectional. Match scores were not reported.

Eau Claire Memorial and Stevens Point each had three individual champions, and the Old Abes edged SPASH to win the team title and move on to the WIAA State Team Tennis Tournament in Madison on Oct. 21-22.

The top two finishers in No. 1 singles and doubles and winners of the No. 2 singles and doubles flights move on to the WIAA State Individual Tennis Tournament in Madison on Oct. 13-15.

Eau Claire North 8; 11. River Falls and Marshfield 4; 13. Merrill and Chippewa Falls 2; 15. D.C. Everest and Superior 0.
