MARSHFIELD — The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin (ADRC-CW) is organizing two upcoming workshops, Healthy Living with Diabetes and Stepping On.

The Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop will help adults with type II diabetes or prediabetes manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

The six-week program begins Oct. 17 and meets on Mondays through Nov. 21 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 502 W. McMillan St., from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

A one-time contribution of $10 is suggested but not required. Call Ciara at the ADRC-CW to register or for more information at 1-888-486-9545.

Stepping On

Presented through partnership with the ADRC-CW, the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department, and Security Health Plan, the Stepping On program focuses on preventing falls. The workshop covers a variety of topics, including strength and balance exercises, the role vision plays in keeping one’s balance, how medications can contribute to falls, ways to stay safe when out and about in the community, what to look for in safe footwear, and recognizing safety hazards in the home.

Participants who can benefit from the program the most are those that are aged 60 or over, live in their own home or apartment, are able to walk without the help of another person, and do not use a walker, scooter, or wheelchair most of the time indoors.

There will be two sets Stepping On workshops, both held at the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department, 514 E. Fourth St. One will be Wednesdays, Oct. 5 – Nov. 16 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The other will be Fridays, Nov. 4 – Dec. 16 running 10 a.m. – noon.

Preregistration is required by calling Ciara at the ADRC-CW, 1-888-486-9545.
