HORTONVILLE — Hortonville quarterback Charlie Schabo threw for 353 yards and five touchdowns, four to Brock Young, as the Polar Bears blew past Marshfield 35-7 in a Valley Football Association South Division game Friday night at Hortonville High School.
Hortonville (5-1, 4-1 VFA South) raced out to a 28-0 lead by halftime, and a 70-yard touchdown strike from Schabo in the third quarter gave the Polar Bears a five-touchdown advantage.
Ryan Krueger threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Zachary Schmidt for Marshfield’s only score.
Krueger finished with 129 yards passing and two interceptions, and Braden Bohman had 67 yards on the ground for the Tigers (2-4, 1-4 VFA South).
The loss leaves the Tigers with having to win their final three games of the season to qualify for the WIAA playoffs. Marshfield takes on Stevens Point at home next Friday before hosting Oshkosh North for its homecoming game on Oct. 7. The Tigers finish the season Oct. 14 at Fond du Lac.
