Auburndale football dominates Phillips

Apaches give up just one first down, force five turnovers in shutout win

AUBURNDALE — The Auburndale football team scored four first-half touchdowns and thoroughly dominated Phillips, winning 39-0 in a Marawood Conference football game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches (2-3, 2-2 Marawood) held Phillips (0-5 overall and Marawood) to just 12 total yards and one first down while racking up 337 rushing yards.

Aaron Willfahrt ran 21 times for 143 yards, and quarterback Ryan Isaacson ran for two touchdowns and threw two others to Cam Ertl. Brandon Yahnke and Jake Peplinski also added a touchdown runs for Auburndale.

Phillips ended up with minus-18 yards rushing on 15 carries and ran only 29 plays in all as Auburndale’s defense was on top of its game, forcing five turnovers.

The Apaches play at Pittsville (2-3, 2-2 Marawood) next Friday at 7 p.m.
