Marshfield volleyball falls at Merrill in battle of WVC leaders

Tigers host first conference meet on Saturday

MERRILL — Defending conference champion Merrill grabbed a big early-season victory on Thursday night, topping Marshfield 3-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference volleyball contest at Merrill High School.

Merrill won 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22 in four hotly-contested sets to improve to 3-0 as Marshfield falls to 1-1.

Alexa Aumann had 15 kills, Anna Ripp had 24 assists and 24 digs, and Maureen Cassidy had 30 digs for the Tigers.

Marshfield will host the first of two Wisconsin Valley Conference meets beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Boson Company Fieldhouse.
