Mittlesteadt hat trick leads Evergreens

WESTON — Jack Mittlesteadt scored a hat trick to lift D.C. Everest to a 4-1 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer match Thursday night at D.C. Everest Middle School.

Mittlesteadt scored in the sixth, 31st, and 48th minutes for the Evergreens, who remain unbeaten in the Valley at 4-0-1. Marshfield falls to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

After Mittlestead scored his first two goals, Zach Ostrowski added another for Everest to give them a 3-0 lead.

Hunter McManus scored for Marshfield less than a minute after Ostrowski’s goal to cut it to 3-1, but Mittlesteadt struck again three minutes into the second half to finish the scoring.

Alex Pagel saved 10 of Marshfield’s 11 shots in goal for the Evergreens.

“Their goalie made a couple excellent saves to preserve their lead and ultimate win,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said.

Marshfield will play a nonconference game at Ashwaubenon on Saturday afternoon.
