Joyce Y. Heart, 89, Marshfield, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Private family committal services and burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery.

Joyce was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Milwaukee to William and Marguerite (Holling) Steitzer. She attended Milwaukee schools. Later she obtained her GED and started her nursing career in 1964 as a nurse’s aide. She then attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1981 at the age of 55. She was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield until her retirement in 1991.

She was married to Lee A. Heart in 1946 in Milwaukee and they divorced.

Joyce’s family was her pride and joy. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting, ancestry, fishing, and baking.

She is survived by her 6 sons, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, William (Cindy) Heart of Ashland; Lee (Lois) Heart of Salt Lake City, UT, and their children, Susan and Kerri; Dennis “Buck” (Barb) Heart of Chili, WI, and their children, Ross and Amy; Ronald (Carol) Heart of Marshfield and their children, Lucas and Lindsey; Richard Heart of Marshfield; Jeffrey (Carmen) Heart of Unity and his children Danielle and Brittney. She is further survived by her siblings, Neil (Michiko) Steitzer of Los Angeles, CA, Dick Steitzer of Milwaukee, Beverly Steitzer of Stevens Point, Dave (Marilyn) Steitzer of Rhinelander and Michael (Marilyn) Hawley of Crivitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, a half-brother, Charles Hawley, and a daughter, Karen in infancy.

The family will designate a memorial a later date.
