Tigers score five TDs in first quarter of home win

STRATFORD — Stratford scored five touchdowns in the first quarter, all from more than 30 yards out, to make quick work of Tomahawk in a 62-7 rout Friday night in a Marawood Conference football game at Tiger Stadium.

Kam Bornbach caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Eli Drexler; Jordan Becker, Cole Hoffman, and Kade Ehrike had rushing touchdowns of 46, 38, and 57 yards, respectively; and Kyler Haupt returned an interception 30 yards for another score for the Tigers (2-1, 2-0 Marawood Conference).

Bornbach added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, and A.J. Schoenfuss caught a 23-yard TD pass from Drexler to put Stratford on top 55-7 by halftime.

Derek Marten had Stratford’s final touchdown on a 1-yard run in the third quarter.

Stratford held Tomahawk to just 128 total offensive yards in the win.

The Tigers gained 370 yards rushing on 33 carries and had 511 total yards of offense. Bornbach led the way with 77 yards rushing on eight carries.

The Tigers will play at rival Edgar (3-0 overall and Marawood) next Friday. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
