D.C. Everest shuts down Marshfield football

Tigers fall to 1-1, play at Neenah next Friday

SCHOFIELD — Four first-half turnovers plagued the Marshfield football team as it dropped a 28-0 nonconference game to D.C. Everest on Friday night at Stiehm Stadium.

The Tigers fumbled the opening kickoff to set up the first D.C. Everest touchdown, a 31-yard pass from Riley Peterson to Alex Langseth that came on the next play, and a high snap on a punt attempt led to another short drive and Everest score in the first quarter.

Kevin Sandoval scored his second TD on the final play of the quarter when he hauled in a 26-yard touchdown pass from Riley Petersen on fourth-down-and-goal following a Tigers’ interception.

Tanner Fowler returned the opening kickoff of the second half for Everest in what was the final score of the game.

Marshfield had a tough time getting its offense going the entire way. Braden Bohman rushed for 104 yards on 29 carries to lead the way for the Tigers.

Marshfield will open its Valley Football Association South Division schedule next Friday at Neenah. The game will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
