Marshfield freshman football team opens season with shutout of Wausau East

Tigers host D.C. Everest next Thursday

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield freshman football team opened its 2016 season with a 19-0 shutout of Wausau East on Thursday at Marshfield High School.

Sam Hinson threw two touchdown passes to Isaac Meverden, and Bradley Dickinson had a rushing TD for the Tigers. Austin Kuhlka added one extra point kick.

Emmett Meissner recovered a fumble and was among the leading tacklers for Marshfield along with Tyler Wein, A.J. Trierweiler, and Logan Griesbach.

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest in its next game Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m. at Marshfield High School.
