Collin Nikolai scores all three goals for the Tigers

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

HOLMEN — Collin Nikolai scored a hat trick as the Marshfield boys soccer team started its 2016 season in style, blanking Holmen 3-0 in a nonconference game Tuesday.

Nikolai scored in the sixth, 21st, and 78th minutes for the Tigers. Alec Hinson, Nathan Carlson, and Luke McCann assisted on the goals.

Matt Pahl and Jared Klein each played goalkeeper for one half and preserved the shutout.

“It was a solid win, but there were many missed opportunities that kept the score close,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said.

Marshfield will compete at the Sun Prairie Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
