Turnovers prove costly as Auburndale football drops opener to Edgar

Apaches commit seven turnovers in home loss

AUBURNDALE — Edgar held Auburndale to 96 yards and forced seven turnovers as it rolled to a 35-0 win over the Apaches in the 2016 season and Marawood Conference opener on Friday night at Auburndale High School.

Edgar scored all of its points in the first half as Alec Haferman ran for three touchdowns, caught a 15-yard touchdown pass, and ran an interception back 62 yards for another score. Haferman totaled 126 yards on 13 carries to lead the Wildcats’ rushing attack that put up 207 yards in all.

Auburndale had six fumbles, four of which Edgar recovered, and threw three interceptions on just nine pass attempts.

Collin Hawkins had 35 yards, and quarterback Ryan Isaacson added 33 on the ground for the Apaches.

Auburndale plays at Prentice against Rib Lake/Prentice next Friday.
