ASHWAUBENON — Cole Hoffman tossed a no-hitter for the Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team as it split a doubleheader with AshPort on Sunday.

Marshfield won 3-0 behind Hoffman’s no-hitter but lost to the second game 4-3 to end its three-game winning streak. The Blue Devils are now 3-1 and play at La Crosse on Monday.

Hoffman walked six and hit a batter while striking out three to earn the win. Jake Brueggen had two hits and an RBI, and Jack Donahue had a two-RBI single in the fourth inning as Marshfield scored all three of its runs.

In Game 2 Mitch Susa had an RBI groundout to put Marshfield up 1-0 in the first inning.

After AshPort went up 3-1, the Blue Devils rallied with a run in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Billy Young and another in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Nate McDonald.

AshPort won it in the bottom of the seventh, plating a run with one out against Marshfield reliever Jacob Neve.

McDonald had two of Marshfield’s six hits in the loss.
