Focus to be on Alzheimer’s, dementia
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Area Purple Angels is hosting a three-part series of care giving workshops to help professional and family caregivers support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The workshops are designed to raise awareness about the different types of dementia, common symptoms and behaviors, and strategies for overcoming communication challenges. The workshops will also include tips and resources for improving care giving skills.
The workshops will be held at the Marshfield Public Library on the second Wednesday of the month, starting June 8. Both a morning session, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and an evening session, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., are offered. Participants can register for the session that best fits their schedule.
The workshops are offered free of charge and are facilitated by Doug Seubert, an experienced caregiver, trainer, and consultant. Seubert, a dementia specialist and certified dementia practitioner, is the founder and executive director of Marshfield Area Purple Angels, a nonprofit organization serving the Marshfield area, which was founded in memory of Seubert’s mother who had Alzheimer’s disease.
Space is limited, so registration is encouraged by calling Marshfield Area Purple Angels at 715-383-0897 or emailing [email protected].
