WAUSAU — The Marshfield girls soccer team closed out its season with a 4-1 loss to Wausau East on Thursday at East High School.
Marshfield’s Emily Critelli scored the first goal of the game, but that was all the Tigers could muster.
Allyson Dehnel scored three unanswered goals, and Jordyn Seymore added another for East (6-10, 5-7 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Andrea Carolfi had five saves in goal for Marshfield (5-16-1, 1-10-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
“We started with four starters injured and lost two more starters midway through the first half,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “Playing with no subs and without six starters, the team really played well. Francesca Tyler and McKenna Hart played well in their roles.”
Marshfield will open postseason play on June 2 with a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal at Ashwaubenon. Ashwaubenon beat the Tigers 4-3 in a nonconference game back on April 29.
