MEDFORD — The Stratford track and field team was shut out at the WIAA Division 2 sectional on Thursday at Medford High School, failing to earn a top-four finish that was needed to advance to the state meet next week.

The top four finishers in each event qualified for the 2016 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Stratford’s best individual finish came from senior Johnelle Miner, who finished fifth in the 3,200 in 12:21.05, missing out on a spot in the state meet by 11 seconds.

The Stratford girls 1,600 relay team of Ingrid Bender, Emily Hauke, Heather Greenberg, and Keyarra Dahl was sixth in 4:14.47, also 11 seconds short of the final state meet spot in the event.

Makayla Krall was 12th (13-2.75) and Brianna LaSee 14th (12-9) in the girls long jump, the 400 relay team was 11th in 54.05 seconds, and Brooklyn Zawislan took 16th in the triple jump (29-10) for the Tigers girls.

John Geissinger had the Stratford boys top finish, taking 10th in the pole vault (12 feet).
