MARSHFIELD — Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of freshman Evan Fait and junior Derek Reckner is moving on to the state tournament after finishing fourth at the WIAA Division 1 boys tennis sectional Wednesday at Stevens Point.

Fait and Reckner won their first match to solidify a spot in the field at the 2016 WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 2-4. The duo dropped its final two matches to finish fourth and is now 15-3 this season.

Also competing at the sectional for Marshfield were Sam Haessly (15-12), who finished third at No. 3 singles; Craig Paulman (17-7), who took fourth at No. 4 singles; and the No. 3 doubles team of Isaac Houk and Luke Kaiser (18-6), who ended up fourth.

Marshfield, which won the Tomah subsectional on Monday, ended up third in the team standings with 21 points. Eau Claire Memorial won the team title with 52 points and will compete at the 2016 WIAA State Team Boys Tennis Tournament on June 10-11 in Madison.
