MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield baseball team ripped out 15 hits and used an eight-run fifth inning to top Wausau East 14-9 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.

East led 7-3 after four innings before the Tigers erupted for the eight-run fifth. Marshfield added three more in the sixth to finish off the win.

Logan Jakobi hit a home run and had three RBIs, Tyson Slade also drove in three runs, and Scott Berg was 3-for-5 for Marshfield, which improves to 11-12 overall and 5-6 in the Valley. The Tigers finish up their regular-season and WVC schedule Thursday at Wausau East, which is now 5-13 and 1-10 in the conference.

Jake Brueggen earned the win for the Tigers, allowing one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

Braden Bohman, Trevor Schwecke, Paul Maguire, and Jakobi finished with two hits each for Marshfield.
