By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

BLACK RIVER FALLS — Columbus Catholic/Spencer golfer Ben Alt will move on to sectionals after shooting a 75 to finish tied for third at the WIAA Division 2 boys golf regional on Tuesday at Skyline Golf Course.

Alt, a senior, earned one of four individual sectional spots reserved for the top four finishers not on the top four teams that qualify for sectionals automatically.

Columbus Catholic/Spencer finished ninth in the 10-team regional with a score of 392.

Derek Porter had a 103, Josh Rudolph had a 106, and Matt Olson and James Hinrichsen each had 108s to round out the scoring for Columbus/Spencer.

Alt will compete at the Division 2 sectional at Lake Wissota Golf Club in Chippewa Falls on May 31. The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams at the sectional qualify for the 2016 WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament at University Ridge Golf Club in Verona on June 6-7.
