Regionals begin May 26

MARSHFIELD — The 2016 WIAA spring baseball tournament field has been set.

Regional quarterfinals in Divisions 2, 3, and 4 will be played on Thursday, May 26.

Regional semifinals in all four divisions are set for Tuesday, May 31; regional finals in Divisions 2, 3, and 4 are on Wednesday, June 1; and Division 1 regional finals are on Thursday, June 2.

Sectionals in all divisions will be Tuesday, June 7, and semifinals and finals played will be at the same site. Winners will move on to the 2016 WIAA State Spring Baseball Tournament at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute on June 14-16.

Locally, Marshfield is the No. 7 seed in the Division 1 Sectional 1 field and will host Wisconsin Valley Conference rival Merrill, the 10th seed, in a regional semifinal on May 31. The winner plays at No. 2 Eau Claire North in a regional final on June 2.

In Division 3, Stratford, Spencer, and Auburndale are all part of the Sectional 2 bracket.

Stratford is the No. 3 seed in the top half of the bracket and will host Colby in a regional quarterfinal on May 26. The winner moves on to play at No. 2 Spencer in a regional semifinal on May 31.

In the bottom half of the bracket, Auburndale is the No. 5 seed and will play a regional quarterfinal at No. 4 Weyauwega-Fremont on May 26. The winner plays at No. 1 Stevens Point Pacelli in a regional semifinal on May 31.

Marshfield Columbus Catholic is the No. 4 seed in the Division 4 Sectional 2 bracket and will host No. 5 Prentice at Jack Hackman Field on May 26. The winner plays at No. 1 Loyal in a regional semifinal on May 31.
