Auditions for ‘The Music Man’ to be held at LuCille Tack Center
For Hub City Times
SPENCER — “The Music Man,” Meredith Willson’s six-time Tony Award-winning musical, was recently named as Spencer’s 2016 School-Community Musical production. By turns wicked, funny, warm, romantic, and touching, this musical comedy has been enjoyed by audiences since 1957 and is family entertainment at its best.
Cast auditions will be held Tuesday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 25, between 5-7:30 p.m. on the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts stage at 300 School St. in Spencer. Please use the north loading dock entrance.
Actors should come prepared to read. Most, but not all, roles involve singing, so those auditioning should bring their choice of music with them, or it will be provided. Questions or requests for an alternative time may be directed to Spencer High School Choral Director Diane Veale at [email protected] or 715-659-2409, ext. 117.
Thirteen lead roles for males and females from ages 12-65 as well as many chorus parts for townspeople are available. Those auditioning must be one of the following: a student of Spencer Public Schools during the 2016-2017 school year and a minimum of 12 years of age, an alumnus of Spencer High School, an adult living in the Spencer School District, or a LuCille Tack Center for the Arts adult volunteer. Elaine Jones will be directing the production, which will run Nov. 4-6. Rehearsals will begin in mid-September 2016.
