Baehr, Weber hit home runs for Rockets

Sports Reporter

SPENCER — Macie Weber and Tiffany Meinders combined on a three-hit shutout to lead the Spencer softball team to a 6-0 nonconference win over Rib Lake on Tuesday at Spencer High School.

Sadie Mercier and Jenna Schober each had two hits, and Weber hit her sixth home run of the year and drove in two for the Rockets.

Lexi Baehr also homered for Spencer, giving her a home run in three-straight games.

Mercier is 9-for-12 in her last five games, and Schober is 7-for-13 in her last four for the Rockets (14-3).

“Sadie Mercier has really come on as of late,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “She is understanding the small-ball game very well. Jenna and Lexi have also been doing a great job at the plate as of late.”

Spencer hosts Chippewa Falls McDonell for a nonconference game Thursday and will finish its Cloverbelt East and regular-season schedule on Friday with a doubleheader at Loyal against Loyal/Granton. The Rockets clinch the outright conference title with one win in the twinbill.
