WAUSAU — Marshfield’s Calden Wojt won a pair of events and took second in another at the 2016 Wisconsin Valley Conference Track & Field Meet on Tuesday at Wausau West High School.

Wojt won the 400 meters in 49.87 seconds, the 200 in 22.13, and was runner-up in the 100 in 11.22 for the Tigers. Wojt lost the 100 by just 0.01 seconds to Nick Kohnhorst of D.C. Everest.

Wojt’s victories were Marshfield’s only first-place finishes at the event. The boys team took fifth, and the girls were fourth in the team standings.

Stevens Point won both team championships. For the Point boys, it is the team’s fifth WVC title in a row and 11th in the last 12 years. For the girls the title is the Panthers’ second in a row and eighth since 2003.

Jon Wittman took fifth in the shot put with a toss of 43 feet 11 ½ inches for the Tigers’ only other top-five individual finish.

Marshfield’s 3,200 relay team of Jordan Dzikowich, Paul Fischer, Carter Chojnacki, and Sam Huettl was third in 8:39.83.

On the girls side, Marshfield had a pair of runner-up finishes and three others that finished third.

Sophomore Meg Bryan took second in the long jump (17-4 ¼), and Shantel Nienast was second in the high jump (4-10).

Taking third for the Marshfield girls were Courtney Brown in the 400 (1:00.74), Alexa Aumman in the 800 (2:28.24), and the 1,600 relay team of Aumann, Dani Bender, Brown, and Bryan (4:17.71).

Marshfield will compete in the WIAA Division 1 regionals Monday at Wausau West.
