Auburndale’s Sylviann Momont wins three events at 2016 Marawood Conference South Track Meet

Auburndale girls, Stratford boys finish third

STRATFORD — Auburndale senior Sylviann Momont continued her assault on the local track scene with three titles and one runner-up finish at the 2016 Marawood Conference South Division Track & Field Meet on Monday at Tiger Stadium.

Momont won the long jump (16 feet 2 ¾ inches), triple jump (33-4), and 100 hurdles (19.25 seconds) and was second in the 300 hurdles (51.12) for the Apaches girls, who finished third in the team standings.

Also taking second for the Apaches were Katie Leick in the 1,600 (5:45.72), Cassie Mitchell in the 100 hurdles (19.84), Rachel Gronemeyer in the 400 (1:03.15), and the 1,600 relay team of Gronemeyer, Isabella Jewell, Kali Karl, and Leick (4:23.74).

Stratford was fourth and had two second-place finishes. Emily Hauke was second in the 200 (27.80), and the 400 relay team of Hauke, Sarah LaBorde, Brooke Peterson, and Keyarra Dahl was the runner-up in 54.69.

Wausau Newman Catholic won the girls team title, and Marathon ran away with the boys crown with nearly double the points as second-place Newman. The Stratford boys were third and Auburndale sixth.

The Stratford boys had two second-place finishes. Cade Lehman was the runner-up in the 3,200 in 10:29.07, and the 800 relay team of Jesse Dickman, Kyler Haupt, A.J. Schoenfuss, and Tyler Gilbertson was second in 1:38.08.

Nick Steele had the Auburndale boys top finish by taking third in the triple jump with a leap of 39-0.

Auburndale will compete at the WIAA Division 3 regional on Monday at Marathon, and Stratford will be in the Division 2 meet at Colby.
