GREENWOOD — The Spencer softball team extended its win streak to nine in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division with an 11-2 victory over Greenwood on Thursday.

The Rockets are now 12-3 overall and 9-0 in the conference. Greenwood drops to 5-8 and 2-5 in the Cloverbelt East.

“Our defense and baserunning were much better tonight,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “It took us a bit, but we really got the bats going in the seventh. I was happy with the progress we made from (last) weekend.”

Spencer led 4-2 after six innings before exploding for seven runs in the top of the seventh.

Macie Weber, Cinnamin Harwood, and Kallie Reckner each had two hits, and Lexi Baehr hit a home run and drove in three for Spencer.

Weber earned the win on the mound, striking out seven.

Spencer hosts Colby on Friday. The Rockets would clinch at least a share of their second-straight Cloverbelt East championship with a victory.
