Marshfield softball slips past Merrill
Tigers climb back to .500 mark at 9-9

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield softball team won for the third time in its last four Wisconsin Valley Conference games as it doubled up Merrill 4-2 on Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
Megan Donahue threw a complete game, struck out 11, and scattered six hits to earn the victory for Marshfield, which is now 9-9 overall and 4-4 in the WVC. Merrill falls to 7-6 and 6-3 in the conference.
With the win the Tigers move into fourth place in the conference standings with four games remaining.
Emily Draeger and Donahue each had two hits and four different Tigers had RBIs.
Marshfield will compete at the Escanaba (Mich.) Tournament on Friday and Saturday before returning to Wisconsin Valley Conference action to wrap up its regular-season schedule next week. The Tigers are at Wisconsin Rapids on Monday, at D.C. Everest on Tuesday, and host Wausau East for a doubleheader on May 19.
