Marshfield boys tennis finishes 3-1 at Wausau tournament

No. 1 doubles team of Fait-Reckner goes perfect 4-0

WAUSAU — The Marshfield boys tennis team finished 3-1 in dual match play at the Wausau Area Tennis Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Marshfield defeated Rhinelander 4-3, Green Bay Preble 4-3, Pulaski 6-1, and lost 5-2 to Green Bay Southwest.

All three Marshfield doubles teams won in the victory over Rhinelander: Evan Fait and Derek Reckner at No. 1, Jared Draxler and Ayush Shukla at No. 2, and Isaac Houk and Luke Kaiser at No. 3. No. 4 singles player Craig Paulman also posted a win.

Against Preble, John Weisenberger, Sam Haessly, and Paulman won at Nos. 2, 3, and 4 singles, respectively. Fait and Reckner also won a No. 1 doubles.

Weisenberger, Haessly, Paulman, and all three doubles teams were victorious against Pulaski.

Fait and Reckner finished off a 4-0 tournament with a win over Southwest. Draxler and Shukla also won at the No. 2 doubles.

Marshfield is scheduled to play at D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
