MARSHFIELD — Shirley’s House of Hope, a Christian domestic violence shelter in Marshfield, recently held its “2016 Striking Out Domestic Violence – Building Hope” bowling fundraiser. Bowling in the eighth annual event at Rose Bowl Lanes on Sunday, April 24, 21 teams competed for prizes based on donations they received from friends and family members.

Over $33,000 was raised by the bowlers and lane sponsorships. Amber Mitten won the grand prize Dells Wilderness Waterpark Package: a two-night stay for six.

Lane sponsors included Arby’s, Associated Bank, Begert Stainless, Bents Chiropractic, Chips of Marshfield, Cornerstone Community Church, Counter Form, Dental Clinic of Marshfield, Eye Care Center of Marshfield, Forward Financial, Marawood Construction, Pioneer Bank, Power Pac, Reigel Plumbing, The Hearing House, Total Electric, Valley Communities Credit Union, WDLB, WGNV, and Weiler’s Convenience Stores.

Funds from the event are used to provide basic services such as emergency shelter, a healing program, and transitional housing. Shirley’s House of Hope is rebuilding, renewing, and restoring lives of women and children hurting from domestic violence in the community. The organization receives no government funding, and 90 percent of all donations provide direct services.
