Marshfield boys golf fourth at third leg of WVC tournament
Michalski ties for eighth for Tigers’ best finish

STEVENS POINT — Derek Michalski tied for eighth after shooting an 85, and the Marshfield boys golf team finished fourth at the third leg of the 2016 Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament on Friday at Stevens Point Country Club.
Host Stevens Point won with a score of 325, 18 shots ahead of second-place Wausau West. Wausau East edged Marshfield by just one shot (358-359) for third.
Matt Tuman of Wausau East was meet medalist, firing a 77, which was one shot ahead of Wausau West’s Josh Yang and Stevens Point’s Max Bancker.
Grant Michaelis and Brendan Schneider each had 91s to finish in a four-way tie for 15th, and Zach Hanson and Joe Kirschnik had 92s to tie for 19th for Marshfield.
The fourth leg of the seven-meet tournament is scheduled for Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau. D.C. Everest is the host.
