AUBURNDALE — The Auburndale baseball team scored 15 runs in the first four innings and held off a late rally to beat Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 18-14 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches (3-5, 3-4 Marawood South) led 6-0 after two innings and 15-3 after four before Assumption (5-7, 4-4 Marawood South) scored eight times in the fifth and three more runs in the sixth to cut Auburndale’s lead to 15-14.

The Apaches added three runs in the bottom of the sixth and held the Royals scoreless in the final inning to preserve the win.

Colton Wright had three hits and four RBIs, and Logan Willfahrt, Aaron Willfahrt, Ryan Isaacson, and Dylan Altmann added two hits each for Auburndale, which had 13 hits and took advantage of 11 Assumption walks to score a season-high 18 runs.

Auburndale’s next game is Tuesday at Pittsville.
