MARSHFIELD — The Spencer softball team won its 22nd-straight Cloverbelt Conference East Division game with a 12-0 shutout of Columbus Catholic on Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Tiffany Meinders tossed a five-inning no-hitter, struck out eight, and did not walk a batter. The game ended after five innings via the 10-run rule.

“Tiffany came out and was throwing real well,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “I’m really happy to see her get her first no-hitter.”

The Rockets had 12 hits, scoring in all five innings.

Courtney Buss went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Cinnamin Harwood and Mandie Schultz each had two hits for Spencer, which is now 9-2 overall and 7-0 in the Cloverbelt East after its ninth win in a row overall.

Sierra Litwaitis took the loss for Columbus Catholic, which falls to 1-8 overall and 0-8 in the conference.

Columbus Catholic is at Colby, and Spencer plays at Gilman on Friday.
