Olivia Haessly scores Tigers’ only goal

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield girls soccer team fought to a 1-1 tie with Wausau West in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Thursday at Griese Park.

Olivia Haessly scored off an assist from Nicole Simon at the 30:35 mark of the first half for Marshfield’s lone goal.

Simon hit Haessly with a crossing pass that the senior put in for the Tigers.

Marshfield had eight shots on goal and held West to just four.

“We just missed a few shots and had a shot whistle off the post in the first half as we pressured West,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “We played a nice game and controlled the first half.

“I liked the new formation we implemented this week. Even though we, at times, were a little out of sync, the girls bought into this and responded quite well.”

Marshfield (3-11-1 overall, 1-5-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference) is off until May 12 when it plays at Stevens Point.
