Weber earns win, hits home run for Rockets

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

STRATFORD — Spencer scored in every inning and held off a rally from Stratford to beat the Tigers 15-9 in a nonconference game Tuesday at Hilgemann Field.

Spencer (8-2) smashed 16 hits as eight of its nine starters collected at least one hit and one RBI.

The Rockets led 7-0 after 2 ½ innings before Stratford (9-3) scored five times in the bottom of the third to make a game of it.

Spencer pulled ahead 14-8 after scoring three times in the top of the sixth and kept the Tigers at bay.

Macie Weber earned the win on the mound for the Rockets, striking out six and walking seven in seven innings. She also hit a home run and scored twice.

Kallie Reckner went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Lexi Baehr added three hits and three RBIs and scored four times, and Jenna Schober had four RBIs for the Rockets.

Kaylee Geiger and Sammy Kaiser each had two hits and three RBIs for Stratford.

“Both teams certainly hit the ball very well tonight,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “I give Stratford a lot of credit the way they battled back after being down 7-0. They are a well-coached team, and there is a good chance we will meet again (in the playoffs).

“All of our girls were on a tear tonight. Kallie Reckner is really seeing the ball well right now.”

Stratford hosts Auburndale, and Spencer is at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday.
