Auburndale girls win seven titles at Stratford Track Meet

Stratford boys take second, girls third at home meet

STRATFORD — Marathon ran away with both the girls and boys team titles at the Stratford Multi-Team Track Meet on Monday at Tiger Stadium.

A total of six girls teams and seven boys squads participated in the meet.

The Marathon girls totaled 178 points, 10 better than Auburndale. Stratford was third with 114.

Sylviann Momont won four events for Auburndale, and teammate Kali Karl won two individual races and was part of a winning relay team for the Apaches.

Momont won titles in the long jump (16 feet 8 inches), triple jump (35-6 ¾), 100-meter hurdles (16.66 seconds), and 300 hurdles (50.26 seconds).

Karl won the 800 in 2:32.94, the 1,600 in 5:52.77, and was joined by Rachel Gronemeyer, Katie Leick, and Isabella Jewell on the winning 1,600 relay team that finished in 4:23.52.

The Stratford girls had individual wins by Lexi Schneider in the shot put (32-3 ½) and Emily Hauke in the 100 (13.44).

The Marathon boys won 11 events to pile up 248.5 points, well ahead of second-place Stratford, which had 122.5. Auburndale was sixth with 36 points.

Stratford’s lone victory came from the 1,600 relay team of Kyle Giebel, Tyler Gilbertson, Jacob Danen, and A.J. Schoenfuss, which won in 3:46.14.

Stratford will host its annual Tiger Invitational on Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
