STEVENS POINT – Marshfield scored four times in the first inning but couldn’t hold on as five errors led to four unearned runs and the Tigers dropped a 7-6 decision to Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Friday at Bukolt Park.

Stevens Point scored seven runs from the third through fifth innings to take the lead for good. Marshfield rallied with two runs in the sixth but couldn’t scratch out any more.

Connor Jasurda took the loss, giving up six runs – only two earned – in four innings, with two strikeouts for Marshfield, which has lost four games in a row.

Hunter Korger had a two-run home run in the sixth inning, and Trevor Schwecke had a double and an RBI for the Tigers (4-8, 1-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Joel Strigel struck out 10 in five innings to earn the win for the Panthers (9-1, 5-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Marshfield plays at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday and hosts the Raiders on Thursday at Hackman Field.
