Stratford softball blasts Northland Lutheran in doubleheader sweep

Tigers improve to 6-0 in Marawood South

STRATFORD — The Stratford softball team improved to 6-0 in the Marawood Conference South Division by dominating Northland Lutheran in a doubleheader at Hilgemann Field on Friday.

Stratford won 24-1 and 21-0 and is now 8-2 overall. Northland Lutheran drops to 0-6 overall and in the Marawood South.

Lorrie Luepke struck out five and walked one in winning Game 1 for the Tigers, and Kiana Weiler cruised in Game 2, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out nine.

Kaylee Geiger hit a home run, scored four times, and had three RBIs in the opener for the Tigers. Seven Stratford players had multiple hits in the game as the Tigers had 16 in all.

In the second game, Geiger scored five times and drove in three with three hits. Five other Tigers also had a pair of hits in the win.

Stratford plays at Wausau Newman on Monday.
