Marshfield fourth at first WVC boys golf tournament meet
Michalski finishes in seventh for Tigers

MARATHON — The Marshfield boys golf team opened up its Wisconsin Valley Conference season with a fourth-place finish at the first of seven WVC meets on Friday at Pine Valley Golf Course. Wausau East was the host school.
Stevens Point won the meet with a score of 308, and Wausau West edging Wausau East by one (321-322) for second. Marshfield was fourth with a 346.
Derek Michalski led the Tigers with an 80 and finished seventh in the individual standings.
Matt Tuman of Wausau East won medalist honors with a 71, two shots ahead of Stevens Point’s Taylor Thomas.
Joe Kirschnik tied for 14th for Marshfield with an 84. Brendan Schneider added a 90, and Zach Hanson and Grant Michaelis each had 91s for the Tigers.
Marshfield will compete at the Tomah Invitational on Saturday.
