MARSHFIELD — Kendra Tremelling scored twice, and Maddie Haessly added a goal to lead the Marshfield girls soccer team to its first Wisconsin Valley Conference win of the season as it beat Merrill 3-1 on Tuesday at Griese Park.

Haessly scored at the 20:19 mark on an assist from Patty Jo Bloczynski, and Tremelling added a goal off an assist from Julia Urban four minutes later to put Marshfield up 2-0.

Tremelling scored 8:03 into the second half on an assist from Elizabeth Holbrook to make it 3-0 before Merrill added its only goal late.

Andrea Carolfi had nine saves in goal for the Tigers (3-8 overall, 1-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

“What stands out are the two goals Tremelling had, one off a corner kick where she one-touched the ball into the net and the second on a sweet cross by Liz Holbrook,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “Even though goals are hard to come by this season, the assist on those two were some very nice plays.”

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Griese Park.
