Downtown event promotes local businesses while aiding United Way

For Hub City Times

MARSHFIELD — Stroll downtown Marshfield on Saturday, May 7, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for Marshfield’s Downtown Wine Walk. This Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MACCI) Leadership Marshfield-Class of 2016 project, in partnership with Main Street Marshfield and Marshfield Area United Way, is sponsored by Nasonville Dairy. Nasonville Dairy is also the exclusive cheese supplier for the event.

The Downtown Wine Walk promotes downtown shopping with over 20 exclusive store promotions and offers 11 wine and cheese tasting locations.

Marshfield Area United Way Executive Director Paula Jero said, “United Way will utilize the proceeds from the Downtown Wine Walk to assist in providing programs that United Way facilitates in the community, such as Make a Difference Day, lawn raking for seniors, backpack and school supply drive for kids, and our book swap.”

Tickets for the Downtown Wine Walk are available online at marshfieldareaunitedway.org/WineWalk.html or at the Marshfield Area United Way office, located at 156 S. Central Ave., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday. Tickets to participate in wine and cheese tasting with exclusive shopping promotions are $20. Tickets for the shopping promotions only can be purchased for $15.

Tickets purchased before or the day of the event must be brought to the United Way office on May 7 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to receive a map with the exclusive shopping promotions and a wine sampling glass and wristband for the Wine Walk participants.

The Downtown Wine Walk is a self-guided activity. You must be 21 to participate in the wine and cheese tasting portion of the event. Identification will be checked on the day of the event before you receive your wine sampling glass and wristband.

The Downtown Wine Walk is a MACCI Leadership Marshfield-Class of 2016 project of Jennifer Fredrick, Joe Gustafson, Allison Machtan, Shawn Ronan, and Gwen Schnitzler.
