Michalski ties for third with 81 for Tigers

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Derek Michalski shot an 81 to tie for third place and lead Marshfield to a second-place finish at the Wisconsin Rapids Boys Golf Triangular on Monday at Bull’s Eye Country Club.

The Tigers finished with a score of 339, 19 shots behind Stevens Point.

Stevens Point’s Jake Hofmeister was meet medalist with a 78, one shot better than teammate Max Bancker. Michalski tied Point’s Taylor Thomas for third.

Brendan Schneider had an 84, Zach Hanson shot an 85, Joe Kirschnik had an 89, and Grant Michaelis fired a 92 for the Tigers.

Marshfield’s next meet is Thursday at the Nekoosa Invitational at Lake Arrowhead Golf Clue. The Tigers will compete in the first of seven Wisconsin Valley Conference tournaments on Friday at Pine Valley Golf Course in Marathon. The meet is hosted by Wausau East.

Brendan Schneider (MAR) 84; 8. Zach Hanson (MAR) 89; 10. Joe Kirschnik (MAR) 89; 12. Grant Michaelis (MAR) 92.
