PITTSVILLE — Auditions for Pittsville Area Community Theater’s summer production, “Urning It,” will be May 10 and May 11 from 5-7 p.m. in the Pittsville Schools Auditorium.
The comedy, written by Ed Vela, plays off the theme of a road trip. Ward Hammacher has just discovered that his extremely rich aunt has died. To honor her last request, he packs up his family and treks 3,000 miles to scatter her ashes off the Santa Monica Pier and collect his inheritance. The drive proves perilous as the family experiences hilarious misadventures along the way, including getting stopped in Texas, ripped off in Arizona, and jailed in Mexico.
Prospective cast members will be asked to do a cold reading in one or more roles. For actors ages 14 and up, there are parts for two males, three females, and eight are flexible. The play will be directed by Sarah Freedlund.
Play dates are July 21, 22, and 23 at 7 p.m. and July 24 at 2 p.m.
