MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department is estimating significant property damage after responding to a report of smoke and flames at 3:44 a.m. on Friday morning. No injuries were reported from the fire, which took place at American Storage LLC at 2207 E. Fifth St. in Marshfield.
Crews were able to contain the “major body of the fire in about an hour,” a release from the Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department said. However, crews were on the scene for about four hours to deal with “numerous hotspots and smoldering debris.”
The Hewitt Fire Department assisted at the scene, and, “Thirty firefighters were on the scene with three engines, one aerial unit, one brush unit, one ambulance, and one squad,” the release said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Marshfield Fire Investigation Task Force. The release said that preliminary damage estimates are $150,000 for the building and $150,000 for the contents.
