Wojt wins two events as Marshfield boys track finishes second at Wausau West

WAUSAU — The Marshfield boys track team kicked off its 2016 outdoor season by taking second place at the Wausau West Pentangular on Tuesday at West High School.

Wausau West won the team title with 176 points, and Marshfield was a distant second with 79. The Marshfield girls team did not participate and will open its season at the D.C. Everest Invitational on Friday.

The Tigers had three first-place and four second-place finishes at the meet.

Calden Wojt won the 100 meters in 11.66 seconds and the 200 in 22.73 and also placed second in the 400 (51.58) for Marshfield.

Carter Chojnacki earned the Tigers’ other win, taking first in the 3,200 in a time of 10:58.21.

Jon Wittman was second in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet 2 ½ inches, Bryce Null finished second in the 1,600 in 4:55.29, and the 3,200 relay team of Chojnacki, Jordan Dzikowich, Paul Fischer, and Alex Wehrman finished second in 8:55.90 for Marshfield.

Both Marshfield teams will compete at the Wood County Invitational at Pittsville High School on Monday.
