Rockets now 4-0 in Cloverbelt East

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

SPENCER — Macie Weber struck out seven and tossed a two-hit shutout to lift the Spencer softball team to its fourth victory in a row to start the Cloverbelt Conference East Division season on Tuesday as the Rockets downed Gilman 6-0 at Spencer High School.

Weber walked four but gave up just the two hits in the win. Batting in the second order, she had a single, two doubles, and drove in a run.

Ellayna Lyon went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs for the Rockets, who had nine hits in the win and are now 5-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

“I was really proud of the way the girls played in all facets of the game,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “This was our best hitting performance of the season. Combined with a two-hitter and an error-free game, we were really able to bring it all together.”

Spencer plays at Colby on Friday.
