Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department

On April 11 the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department and YMCA released their Summer Program Brochure. This is a catalog put together by both agencies and includes activity listings and information about recreation offerings in the area for all ages.

The organizations work with Heinzen Printing to put the catalogs together and help distribute them around town at the Marshfield Public Library, Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, local grocery stores, and gas stations. You can access the brochure online at ci.marshfield.wi.us. Click on “Departments,” then “Parks and Recreation,” and choose “Program Brochure,” or you can stop by our office in City Hall, 630 S. Central Ave., Suite 201R, or the lobby of City Hall.

From skateboard lessons to gymanstics, Parks & Recreation offerings are for all age groups. New this year is an Adventure Camp, which will offer working parents a place for their child to engage in summer activities from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Those interested in getting fit without stressing muscles and joints should look into aquacise — water exercise — classes. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, football, and golf camps are also offered. There are classes, camps, and competitive sports leagues for everyone.

Hefko Pool will be open for the season on June 4. Remember that for Monday – Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m., the pool is open free to the public. This is thanks to the following sponsors: Security Health Plan, McDonald’s, Kwik Trip, Chips Hamburgers, Mueller Publishing Inc., MSA Professional Services Inc., NAPA Auto & Truck Parts of Marshfield, Hub City Ice Cream, Weber Farms, Bents Chiropractic, Roehl Transport, Cellcom, Dairy Queen/Java Junction, Marshfield Clinic, Forward Financial Bank, and Baltus Oil.

A Hefko Pool season pass can be picked up by May 19 for a discounted price. In addition to the Hefko Pool pass savings, the Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with the Wisconsin Parks & Recreation Association to offer discount tickets to various Wisconsin Dells attractions, the Milwaukee County Zoo, Valleyfair, Six Flags, and House on the Rock. Discount tickets can help save as much as 30 percent and are nonrefundable.

Registration for all camps and classes can be done in our office, by mail, or online at ci.marshfield.wi.us. For online registration, click on “Departments,” then “Parks and Recreation,” and choose “Online Registration.” Registration forms can be found inside the brochure or online under “Recreation” and then “Registration Forms.” We take cash or check in the office, but if you choose to register online, you may use a credit or debit card.

Those looking for summer employment or volunteer hours who enjoy working with children should check out our available positions online and apply. We are looking for instructors, program directors, lifeguards, and referees.
