Stevens Point shuts out Marshfield softball

Tigers host Holmen on Friday

STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to beat Marshfield 4-0 in the Tigers’ Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Tuesday at Zenoff Park.

Megan Donahue threw four shutout innings for Marshfield to keep the game scoreless before the Panthers plated a pair of runs in the fifth to give them a 2-0 lead.

SPASH added two more in the sixth, chasing Donahue, who struck out six and walked three.

Aubrey Drohner had a pair of RBIs, and Shaylee Kluck and Payton Gaber each had RBI singles for the Panthers (3-0 overall and Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Drohner earned the win for Point, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out five.

Melissa Roberts, Jenna Jakobi, and Lexi Dupee each had singles for Marshfield (3-3, 0-1 WVC).

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday and Holmen on Friday in its first two home games of the season.
