Wednesday, March 30
Two vehicles struck in hit-and-run
At 11:16 p.m. two Marshfield residents reported that their vehicles were both damaged from a minor crash. An unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on the 1700 block of N. Chestnut Ave. and struck the two vehicles, which were both legally parked and unoccupied. The driver side mirror of one and the left rear quarter bumper of the other were damaged.
An officer was near the location when reported and searched the area prior to arrival. Because of paint transfer, the striking vehicle is thought to be red.
Thursday, March 31
Man arrested for third OWI, resisting an officer
An officer observed a vehicle driving erratically on the 500 block of E. Fifth St. at 2:24 a.m. Police located the vehicle as it entered a parking lot and made contact with the driver.
Officers immediately smelled a heavy odor of intoxicants coming from the driver, and he was stumbling as he tried to walk. He performed poorly during field sobriety testing.
The driver then attempted to run from officers and began actively resisting arrest when police were taking him into custody. An electronic control device and pepper spray had to be deployed to gain compliance of the driver, who was then taken into custody for resisting an officer and operating while under the influence (OWI), third offense. He was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and transported to Wood County Jail.
DVDs stolen at Walnut Avenue apartment building
At 4:23 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported that three DVDs had been stolen. The woman had left a basket with the DVDs outside the door of a man’s apartment on the 600 block of S. Walnut Ave. When the woman later asked the man what he thought of the movies, he said he never got them.
The woman checked with other tenants of the apartment building, but no one knew about the missing DVDs.
An announcement was to be made by the apartment caretaker requesting that the DVDs be returned. The woman said she would advise police if the DVDs are recovered.
Friday, April 1
Nineteen-year-old with warrant taken into custody
Police took a 19-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 1200 block of N. Peach Ave. for a valid Marshfield warrant. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then to Wood County Jail.
Saturday, April 2
Marshfield woman arrested for battery, bail jumping
Police responded at 9:23 p.m. to a report that a Marshfield man had been assaulted by an 18-year-old Marshfield woman. The man said the woman struck him, which caused him pain.
The woman was taken into custody after fleeing from officers. She was then booked and transported to Wood County Jail.
The woman was also out on bond from two Wood County cases. Charges of domestic battery as well as two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping will be forwarded to the Wood County district attorney.
Woman threatens boyfriend with knife
At 11:51 p.m. a Marshfield man reported that he had been involved in an altercation with his girlfriend, a 19-year-old from Marshfield, who had threatened him with a knife. Officers responded to the scene, but the woman was no longer present.
Police located the woman at her residence on April 3 and took her into custody for disorderly conduct – domestic. She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and was released after posting bond.
Marshfield man violates probation rule
Following a traffic stop on the 100 block of W. Fourth St., police took a 34-year-old Marshfield man into custody. The man was a passenger in the vehicle but registered a 0.15 percent reading on his preliminary breath test, which was a violation of his no alcohol probation rule.
A probation hold was placed on the man through the after hours probation phone line. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then taken to Wood County Jail.
Sunday, April 3
Following pursuit, woman taken into custody for felony fleeing
An 18-year-old Marshfield woman attempted to flee a traffic stop in her vehicle on the 500 block of W. Sixth St. at 2:12 a.m. A pursuit followed, and the woman was taken into custody for felony fleeing.
Marshfield man jailed after operating vehicle with revoked license
Police took a 33-year-old Marshfield man into custody for operating after revocation, OWI-related, following a traffic stop on the 100 block of N. Vine Ave. Probation and Parole was contacted via the after hours phone line, and a hold was placed on the man.
The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and taken to Wood County Jail.
Monday, April 4
Man starts altercation, arrested for disorderly conduct
Police arrested a 40-year-old Marshfield man for disorderly conduct after he had started an altercation with patrons of a bar on the 500 block of E. Fourth St. at 11:30 p.m. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then to Wood County Jail.
Tuesday, April 5
Driver found asleep in car on Fairview Drive
Near the intersection of Fairview Drive and Schmidt Avenue at 5:08 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle in the middle of the westbound lane of Fairview with the engine running, headlights on, and sitting at the yield sign. The officer approached the driver, a Marshfield woman, and the driver’s seat was reclined back to a laying position, her shoes were off her feet, and she appeared to be sleeping.
The officer woke the woman up by knocking on the driver’s side window. The woman sat up immediately and shut off the car.
The officer smelled the odor of intoxicants coming from the woman, and she admitted to consuming alcohol. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The informing the accused was read, and she was transported to Saint Joseph’s emergency room for a voluntary blood draw.
The woman was released to a responsible party at the ER once the blood draw was completed and was cited for OWI.
Marshfield woman reports possible sexual assault
A 26-year-old Marshfield woman reported possibly being sexually assaulted after an evening of consuming alcohol at a bar in Marshfield. The woman stated she was unsure of who assaulted her, where the assault took place, or when the assault happened.
The woman voluntarily went to the Saint Joseph’s ER and had a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) nurse conduct a sexual assault exam. The SANE kit was logged into evidence along with the woman’s clothing she was wearing that evening.
Officers have attempted to make contact with the woman multiple times to get additional information and details regarding the incident without success.
Man threatens co-worker in parking dispute
At 9:12 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported that she had been threatened by a co-worker. She stated that after she parked a bus, a male co-worker was angry with how close she parked to another bus. The man became angry and made threats against the woman’s life, stating he would run her over and kill her if she ever did this again.
The woman reported the incident to her supervisor, who recommended that she report it to the police department. The woman stated that the incident was captured on closed-circuit television, which would be available for officers to review.
Police will attempt to contact the man and speak with him regarding the incident. The woman wanted the incident documented in case he continues this behavior toward her.
Police perform two warrant pick-ups
Police arrested a man at his residence on the 300 block of W. Arnold St. for a valid Wood County warrant. He was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then transferred to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail after he was unable to post the required $500 bond.
A 30-year-old Stratford man was taken into custody on the 1800 block of N. Central Ave. for two Marathon County warrants and one Clark County warrant. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed. He posted bond for the Clark County warrant but was then transported to Marathon County Jail by a Marathon County deputy.
