Mathletes compete in districtwide tournaments
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — The top “mathletes” in grades five and six from each elementary school competed in the District Math 24 competition on Thursday, March 17. Two tournaments were scheduled for the day: grade five in the morning and grade six in the afternoon. Each tournament consisted of four rounds of the game Math 24. Winners were determined by adding the scores after the final round.
The object of the game is to make the number 24 using all four numbers on a game card. Students can add, subtract, multiply, or divide the numbers but only use each number once.
